THSO Receives COVID-19 Matching Grant from Wabash Valley Community Foundation
The Wabash Valley Community Foundation (WVCF) has awarded the Terre Haute Symphony Orchestra a generous COVID-19 matching grant of $10,000 to continue supporting the THSO’s mission to provide Great Music! Close to Home in the Wabash Valley. The purpose of the grant was to provide organizations in Clay, Sullivan, and Vigo counties with a tool to assist in fundraising as they seek to recover from the adverse financial effects that the pandemic has had on their organizational budgets.
“The Wabash Valley Community Foundation has been an extremely vital source of support for many organizations in the Wabash Valley, and we are so thankful they have chosen to invest in the THSO’s recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic,” commented Samantha Johnson-Helms, Executive Director and Principal Clarinet. The THSO was tasked with raising $20,000 between April 2021 and September 2021 in order to fulfill qualifications for the $10,000 grant from the WVCF.
With the Wabash Valley Community Foundation’s support, the THSO will be able to continue providing concert and educational programs for the Wabash Valley including expanded concert offerings, additional virtual content on their social media and YouTube pages, and continued virtual student engagement activities during the orchestra’s annual Adventures in Music educational concerts in Spring 2022.
The mission of the Wabash Valley Community Foundation is engaging people, building resources, and enriching lives in the Wabash Valley through their core values of integrity, collaboration, transparency, and accountability. Its vision is for a healthy, educated, and thriving community.
