On November 6, 2021, the THSO presents Brahms & Beach and will welcome cellist Natania Hoffman and violinist Benjamin Hoffman for Brahms’s Double Concerto, a piece that was written by Brahms to repair a strained friendship. Also on the program is Amy Beach’s superb “Gaelic” Symphony, the first symphony published by a female American composer. Amy Beach was an extraordinary woman. In a time when women rarely considered a music career, Amy was one of the greatest composers in our country. Her “Gaelic” Symphony is filled to the brim with passion, power, beauty, and lyrical melodies.
