Board President, Dr. Tonya Balch, shares why fundraisers are so important for the Terre Haute Symphony Orchestra.

The Terre Haute Symphony Orchestra is in its 93rd Season.  We are the oldest professional orchestra in Indiana.  We are primarily funded through generous donations from both individual and business supporters in the community and through purposeful fundraising efforts.  This year our Downton Abbey: Beautiful Music from the Era and TV Show concert event is a very important fundraiser as it will allow us to continue to offer a variety of gifted musicians and unique shows for the Wabash Valley and beyond.

Fundraising Brings World-Class Musicians to Terre Haute

Fundraisers allow us to bring world-class musicians such as Sean Chen, Sylvia McNair, Susie Park, Ariel Horowitz, Charles Webb, Jeff Nelson, J.T. Corenflos, Solly Burton, and many more to perform in our community.  These musicians have played with symphonies throughout our country and the world.  We are fortunate through successful fundraising efforts to showcase their talent in Terre Haute.

Fundraising Brings Special Shows to Terre Haute

Fundraisers have also allowed us to bring special and unique shows to Terre Haute that attract a wide range of audiences.  In recent years, we have supported Classical Mystery Tour and the very popular Disney in Concert show as part of our season offerings.

However, these shows are also reliant on purposeful fundraising efforts.

Fundraising Brings Free Educational Concerts to Thousands of Children Each Year

We are proud to provide a free Children’s Concert to area 4th graders, homeschoolers, and private school students.  For many students, this is their first introduction to a symphony and equally important, often their first introduction to a variety of instruments.  We believe exposure to music and the arts at this age is monumental for all children. This significant event is held annually and supported through our ongoing fundraising efforts.

I encourage you to support your Terre Haute Symphony Orchestra by contributing to our fundraising efforts.  Doing so allows us to offer Great Music! Close to Home.
