Up Next for the THSO: Hops & Haydn and Moonlight Serenades
[Terre Haute, IN] – The Terre Haute Symphony Orchestra is excited to perform two off-the-season concerts as part of their THSO Presents! series, Hops & Haydn on February 18 and Moonlight Serenades on March 19. The THSO Presents! series aims to partner with venues in downtown Terre Haute and on college campuses to share fun and unique concert performances that engage new audiences. Hops & Haydn and Moonlight Serenades will feature chamber music performances with smaller ensembles of 4-15 players from the THSO, giving audiences an intimate up-close experience of our phenomenally talented musicians.
With the success of Beethoven & Brews during the 21-22 season, the THSO partners with Terre Haute Brewing Company again to bring Hops & Haydn to downtown Terre Haute on February 18 at 7pm. Doors open at 6pm. Attendees will enjoy a hot pizza buffet sponsored by Greek’s Pizzeria. The event is also proudly sponsored by ISU Credit Union, the Terre Haute Symphony League, and The Hometown Savings Bank.
Tickets for Hops & Haydn quickly sold out after they were made available to season ticket holders during a pre-sale event and then promoted to the THSO’s email subscriber list and social media followers.
“We are thrilled with the response we have received from our concerts at Terre Haute Brewing Company over the past few years. It is clear that pairing different and unique venues with classical music, good food, and good drinks is a win-win!” noted Executive Director and Principal Clarinet, Samantha Johnson-Helms.

Although tickets sold out in a matter of weeks for Hops & Haydn, patrons have a chance to attend the THSO’s Moonlight Serenades event on March 19 at Hatfield Hall on the campus of Rose-Hulman. THSO Artistic Director, David Bowden, will take the podium for Dvořák’s Serenade for Winds, Op. 44 and Brahms’ Serenade No. 2 for small orchestra. The concert will begin at 4pm and last approximately 75 minutes without an intermission. VIP ticket holders are invited to an exclusive post-concert reception sponsored by Viribus Wealth Management with hors d’oeuvres and complimentary bar. This concert is also proudly sponsored by the Terre Haute Symphony League, Robert L. Cowden, and The Hometown Savings Bank.
Antonín Dvořák’s Serenade for Winds, Op. 44 and Johannes Brahms’ Serenade No. 2 will prominently feature our stellar wind musicians such as Angela Reynolds, principal flute, Brian Kilp, principal horn, and Jennifer Kirby as Acting Principal Oboe for this performance.
Kirby, who is the THSO’s English Horn player, shared her excitement for the concert. “I am delighted to be a part of this concert that will showcase our fantastic wind section. Wind chamber groups of this style, often termed harmoniemusik, were staples at parties and events for aristocratic patrons and are beautiful, playful works for all to enjoy!”
