THSO Presents Moonlight Serenades at Hatfield Hall on March 19

Music as smooth as velvet, intimate solos by world-class musicians, and tuneful melodies you’ll be humming for days. That's what is in store for audience members at the Terre Haute Symphony’s upcoming Moonlight Serenades event at Hatfield Hall on March 19! The THSO will share a special off-the-season concert, part of our THSO Presents! series, that features the ensemble’s principal wind players performing Dvořák’s Serenade for Winds, Op. 44 and Brahms’ Serenade No. 2 for small orchestra, conducted by Artistic Director, David Bowden.

The THSO performs at Hatfield Hall in February 2020.

The THSO Presents! series aims to partner with venues in downtown Terre Haute and on college campuses to share fun and unique concert performances that engage new audiences.  Moonlight Serenades will feature smaller ensembles of 9-13 players from the THSO, giving audiences an intimate up-close experience of our phenomenally talented musicians.

Antonín Dvořák’s Serenade for Winds, Op. 44 and Johannes Brahms’ Serenade No. 2 will prominently feature our stellar wind musicians such as Angela Reynolds, principal flute, Brian Kilp, principal horn, and Jennifer Kirby as Acting Principal Oboe for this performance.

Kirby, who is the THSO’s English Horn player, shared her excitement for the concert. “I am delighted to be a part of this concert that will showcase our fantastic wind section. Wind chamber groups of this style, often termed harmoniemusik, were staples at parties and events for aristocratic patrons and are beautiful, playful works for all to enjoy!”

The concert will begin at 4pm and last approximately 75 minutes without an intermission. VIP ticket holders are invited to an exclusive post-concert reception sponsored by Viribus Wealth Management with hors d’oeuvres and complimentary bar. This concert is also proudly sponsored by the Terre Haute Symphony League, Robert L. Cowden, and The Hometown Savings Bank, and Stadler Tax.

Patrons can purchase Moonlight Serenades tickets by visiting www.thso.org or calling (812) 242-8476. Tickets are $15 for Silver Level, $25 for Gold, and $45 for VIP.
