Erina Buchholz, Concertmaster

Born and raised in Louisiana, violinist Erina Buchholz is currently pursuing a Performer’s Diploma at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music with Joel Smirnoff, following six years as a student of the late Kevork Mardirossian. She earned her Bachelor of Music in violin performance from IU in 2022 as a Herman B. Wells Scholar.

Erina has performed as a soloist with the Gulf Coast Steinway Society Orchestra (Mobile, AL), the Acadiana Symphony (Lafayette, LA), and the Louisiana Youth Orchestra (Baton Rouge, LA).

Prior to being appointed Concertmaster of the Terre Haute Symphony in 2023, Erina served as Principal Second Violin of the THSO for two seasons. In addition to her leadership with the THSO, Erina also serves as a section violinist with the Owensboro Symphony. She was previously a member of the Baton Rouge Symphony Orchestra.

Erina holds prizes from numerous competitions throughout the United States. She has participated in the Bowdoin International Music Festival, Madeline Island Chamber Music, Domaine Forget, Orford Music, International Violin Akademie Saar, and the Ferme de Villefavard Summer Music Academy. “This past summer Erina held leadership positions as a fellow in the Schleswig-Holstein Festival Orchestra in Germany.”

Erina enjoys yoga (especially hot yoga), reading, and traveling to Japan to visit family – she is a dual citizen of Japan and the United States.


Rebecca McGuire, Principal Oboe

Rebecca McGuire won the Principal Oboe position with the Terre Haute Symphony Orchestra (THSO) in 2020. Known for her beautifully authentic and expressive musicality, Rebecca has performed as an orchestral and chamber musician for audiences around the world.

Rebecca was recently the featured soloist with the THSO, performing Ewazen’s Down a River of Time, a concerto for oboe and strings. She made her debut as an international soloist in Cologne, Germany, performing Telemann’s Oboe Concerto in F minor and the Samuel Barber Canzonetta for Oboe and Strings with the Freies Kammerorchester Köln, Ensemble 07 under the direction of award-winning violinist and Baroque specialist, Stephan Schardt.

After receiving a master’s degree in Oboe Performance from the University of Texas at Austin, Rebecca attended Indiana University Jacobs School of Music as a doctoral student, where she studied with oboist Roger Roe (Indianapolis Symphony Assistant Principal and English Horn), as well as former Metropolitan Opera oboist and celebrated pedagogue Linda Strommen.

Rebecca also holds the positions of Principal Oboe with the Carmel (IN) Symphony Orchestra and the Richmond (IN) Symphony and performs with the Indianapolis Symphony, the Indianapolis Chamber and many other regional orchestras.

Ms. McGuire enjoys teaching students in various settings. She is Professor of Oboe at both Indiana State University and Eastern Illinois University and maintains a private studio in her home. Rebecca lives in Bloomington with her fiancé Chris and their beloved cat, Samson. When not playing the oboe, she enjoys spending time in nature, especially kayaking and hiking. However, her favorite pastime is creating incredible meals together with Chris, paired with a great wine.


Jennifer Kirby, English Horn

Jennifer Kirby is a true Midwesterner, growing up in a small town in northwestern Missouri where she stayed to complete her Bachelor of Arts in Music, summa cum laude. She is a freelance musician based in Bloomington, Indiana having attended Indiana University under the tutelage of Linda Strommen and Roger Roe, culminating in a Doctor of Music in Oboe Performance with a minor in Early Music. She performs on a variety of oboes including English horn, oboe d'amore, bass oboe, and Baroque and Classical period instruments. She also has a passion for elevating underrepresented voices and used this as the foundational vison for her woodwind quintet, Prism Winds. They have been selected to perform a new work by non-binary Latinx composer and Prism Winds horn player, Mica Redden at the 2025 International Double Reed Society Conference.

She has been English hornist of the Terre Haute Symphony Orchestra since 2012 and holds positions as second oboe and/or English horn with the Owensboro Symphony Orchestra, Columbus Indiana Philharmonic, Lafayette Symphony Orchestra, and Kentucky Symphony Orchestra. She also performs with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra and Louisville Orchestra, whom she toured with in 2023. Her love of historical performance flourished during her study with the late Washington McClain and Michael McCraw at IU. She holds the position of second oboe with the Indianapolis Baroque orchestra and plays with the Bach Collegium (Fort Wayne), Madison (WI) Bach Musicians, and the Bloomington Bach Cantata project - where she has also served as a director.

She collaborates with ZREO studios (music from The Legend of Zelda franchise) and can be heard on their recent VGMCON award winning album, Fair Winds & Following Seas. She is always excited to visit and play in Terre Haute, where her wife, Liza, also performs as the second oboist. When not spending their time reed-making, they enjoy hiking and time spent watching movies and playing video games with their dog, Bella, close by.


Angela Reynolds, Principal Flute

Praised for her “beautiful flute voice” and “personal playing,” Dr. Angela Reynolds has served as Principal Flute with the Terre Haute Symphony Orchestra since 2021. In her role as Flute Professor at Indiana State University, she enjoys mentoring students to thrive as performers, teachers, and people who serve their community through music.

Angela also holds the positions of Co-Principal Flute with the Gateway Chamber Orchestra (TN), Second Flute with the Paducah (KY) Symphony Orchestra, and Principal Flute of the Classical Music Festival Orchestra in Eisenstadt, Austria. As a soloist, chamber player, and orchestral musician, she has performed in notable concert halls internationally including Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall, Haydnsaal of the Esterházy Palace in Austria, Royal Albert Hall of London, and Boccherini Institute in Lucca, Italy, among others.

As a contemporary music specialist and advocate of new music, Angela has performed over thirty-five world premieres and commissions and continues to collaborate with composers throughout the world. Along with her trombonist husband, Patrick Reynolds, she was invited by New York’s Vox Nous: Composer’s Voice to open a call for flute and trombone duo scores for the concert series titled Fifteen-Minutes of Fame.

Angela has been Grand Prize winner of the London Grand Prize Virtuoso International Music Competition, finalist in the Instrumental Soloist Collegiate Division of The American Prize, and prize winner in the Mid-South Flute Society’s Young Artist Competition. Dr. Angela Reynolds is an Altus Flutes Performing Artist.

When she finds spare time, she loves spending it with her family, friends, husband, and 18-year-old Shih Tzu, Titan!


Melanie Mashner, Principal Harp

Professional harpist Melanie Mashner is passionate about bringing joy to the people around her through music. Melanie is the Principal Harpist of the Terre Haute Symphony Orchestra as well as the Carmel (IN) Symphony Orchestra. She also maintains a private harp, cello, and piano studio in Indianapolis.

Melanie grew up in Rochester, New York, and received her MM, BM, and Performer’s Certificate from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music in Bloomington, IN. Melanie lived in Vienna, Austria, for six months where she worked with Vienna Philharmonic harpist, Anneleen Lenaerts, as the Global Leader Award recipient from the National Society of Leadership and Success. She was also a scholarship recipient at the 2018 Bowdoin International Music Festival, studying with renowned harpist June Han.

Melanie has won numerous awards for the harp, including the prestigious IU Harp Department Concerto Competition. She performs frequently as a chamber artist, orchestral harpist, and soloist throughout the Midwest and northeastern United States. Melanie was also selected as a featured performer in the Orchestral Audition Showcase of the 2022 World Harp Congress in Cardiff, Wales.

An educator at heart, and as the program coordinator of the 2019 11th USA International Harp Competition, Melanie was thrilled to bring harp music and education to over 1800 children and adults across Indiana as the head of their educational outreach program, Harp Start.

Melanie enjoys collaborating with local musicians and composers, as well as with her sister, flutist Melissa Mashner, as a member of their “Angelus Duo.”
